Meet the School Counselor
Dr. Ebonee Magee Dorsey
My name is Dr. Ebonee Magee-Dorsey and this is my sixth year to serve the Lawrence County School District as School Counselor. I am excited to serve the students at Rod Paige Middle School. My goal is to effectively support the social, emotional, and educational needs of every student. Middle school is a very critical time for students developmentally as well as educationally. I am here for each student every step of the way!
As a school counselor, my focus is to identify barriers to success, social justice, advocacy, leadership, and most importantly my students, through a comprehensive counseling program. My role consists of meeting with students individually or in small groups. I help all students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions, apply interpersonal skills, and plan for high school options. I am passionate about social-emotional learning, building empathy, understanding our young scholars, and allowing them to feel valued and heard.
I am a 2006 graduate of Lawrence County High School. After graduation, I attended Mississippi College and earned my Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, Master of Education in School Counseling, Education Specialist in Counseling, and Doctorate of Professional Counseling. I am an active member of the American School Counseling Association (ASCA), American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Mississippi Counseling Association (MCA), where I was voted as the Secretary of the Magnolia Region, Vice President of the Mississippi School Counselor Association, 2018-2019 MCA Emerging Leader, and 2019 MCA School Counselor of the Year. Recently, I became a board member of the Mississippi Association for Middle-Level Education (MAMLE).
I am committed to the success of each and every student. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns, questions, or suggestions. Together we can work as a team to ensure success for each student.
It’s a great day to be a Rod Paige VIKING!!!
